Who We Are

The Mission

Our mission is to promote understanding and participation in a local food system that supports sustainable production and increases access to local products. We achieve this by supporting local growers, producers, and consumers, especially those with low-access to fresh, affordable food.

Values

  • Nutritious food is a basic need—not a luxury. We strive to make it financially and physically accessible to every member of our community. We aim to reduce barriers, simplify program requirements, and work to create welcoming experiences for everyone who visits our markets or participates in our programs.

  • We support farmers, growers, and food producers across Coastal Georgia and the Low Country. We keep vendor fees & regulations reasonable, recruit volunteers with a passion and desire to champion local food, and promote practices that preserve regional agriculture and traditions for future generations.

  • We provide hands-on learning opportunities that deepen personal understanding of the local food system. Through nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and our wildly popular Youth Booth program, we highlight the benefits of fresh food, balanced meals, and urban and peri-urban agriculture.

  • Fresh, nutrient dense food is the foundation of healthy families and healthy futures. Our 912 Food Farmacy program makes it easier for people managing medical conditions to access nutrient-rich, local food and learn how to use it in creative, palette pleasing recipes —supporting wellness, healing, and everyday vitality.

  • We believe strong relationships grow strong communities. We welcome all people and cultivate partnerships across neighborhoods, cultures, and generations. Our outreach ensures that everyone knows how—and where—to find fresh, affordable, locally sourced food.

Vision

We envision a strong, robust, and resilient local food system where every individual—regardless of income, background, or zip code—has access to fresh, affordable, and culturally relevant food.

Our work supports healthy communities, economically viable local farmers, growers, and food producers, and pathways to self-determination through food education, producer support, and regional partnerships that strengthen our shared future.
