Saturday Market Manager 

About Forsyth Farmers Market: The mission of the Forsyth Farmers ‘ Market is to promote understanding and participation in a local food system that supports sustainable production and increases access to local products. We achieve this by supporting local growers, producers and consumers, especially those with low-access to fresh, affordable food. 

Description of Duties of Saturday Market Manager (8-10 hours per week, approximate) 

The Forsyth Farmers Market (FFM) Saturday Market Manager is required to be on-site at Forsyth Park in downtown historic Savannah from the start of the Saturday market setup until the last vendor leaves the market (generally 6:30 am -2:30 p.m.). The Saturday Market Manager also assists the Executive Director to oversee any additional programming happening at the Saturday Market. Additionally, attendance is requested, to the extent available, at a weekly FFM team meeting, as well as periodic vendor meetings, as requested by the Executive Director.  Attendance during weekly meetings may be waived by the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities include: 

● Oversee set up and tear down of all signage, tables, and displays and any other equipment for the Saturday market, including the FFM information booth and any extra program booths 

● Direct vendor set up and ensure proper clean up by vendors 

● Maintain the market information booth professionally and interact with customers, vendors and neighbors appropriately 

● Serve as a point of contact for customers, vendors, community spotlights, and volunteers ● Promote FFM’s EBT doubling program. Manage and recruit volunteers as needed. 

● Work with the Executive Director to manage the token system - oversight of token redemption/reimbursement to farmers when the Executive Director is away from the Market. 

The Saturday Market Manager must believe in and become part of FFM’s core mission. The ideal candidate must become familiar with FFM’s Employee Handbook and code of conduct and must be available and ready to work for the majority of Saturdays throughout the year. FFM’s Saturday Market is open 52 weeks a year, unless closed due to holiday, unforeseen weather events or other emergency. 

The applicant must be inclusive and culturally sensitive when speaking with people of diverse backgrounds who frequent the Saturday Market. This is a physical job and the applicant must be comfortable on their feet for 8 hours and able to lift 30 lbs. 

This is a long-term, at will, part time position, approximately 10 hours per week. Forsyth Farmers Market is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
